Avery Wortman

Hi, I am Avery Wortman, one of the Kindergarten teachers here at Central Christian School! I was born and raised in Fort Wayne and have attended Central Ministries Church since I was in elementary school. I enjoy relaxing with a movie and taking a nap in my free time. Drinking delicious coffee and trying new recipes is something that I enjoy as well. During the summer you will most likely find me at the lake playing Dominoes with my family! I love all things fall and football which is big in my family too!

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. That was something that God put on my heart at a young age! During high school, I attended my school district's career academy where I got to intern at different preschools throughout Fort Wayne to earn my Child Development Associate. Getting to do this solidified my love for teaching! Fast forward some years, in May of 2024, I graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education. The 2024-2025 school year will be my first year teaching! I am beyond excited to watch my students grow as learners while receiving a faith-based education!

Getting to share God's word and his love with my students is truly amazing! The community with both staff and families at CCS is full of love and encouragement! God is present at CCS and I am so honored He chose me to start my teaching career here!

I grew up in a Christian household but I officially dedicated my life to Christ and accepted Him as my Savior when I was 14 years old. I was baptized in my grandparent's pond on their land. Growing up in a Christian household set the foundation of my testimony. I always "knew" Jesus, but did not have a solid relationship with Him until the start of high school. Starting college, my relationship with God drifted. In my sophomore year of college, I attended a women's bible study held on campus where I was supported and encouraged by many women who were in similar stages of life. This rekindled my relationship with Christ. My relationship with God now is still growing and I am so thankful for his continuous love. Life is full of ups and downs, but I thank God often for loving me and for his faithfulness!
