Junior High 7th and 8th

We are purposeful in our middle school education to ensure students are high school ready.

The curriculum we use at CCS not only meets, but often times exceed Indiana State Standards. While the teachers know the standards and make sure they teach them, they simply don’t just teach to the test. One thing that sets us apart is our Christian based curriculum. We feel it is important to use the Truth to teach error, not the error to teach Truth. Even though the teachers may need to supplement the material, the foundation is rooted in Truth.

The teachers at CCS, especially in the upper grades, allow students to switch between classrooms if needed. For example, if there is a 6th grader that greatly excels in a particular subject, they may join the 7th grade during the time that subject is taught. Other programs that are used in our middle school are Khan Academy, Manga High, XtraMath, and Moby Max. These programs are used to meet students’ needs academically and work alongside their grade level instruction.

“The thing that makes Central a very special school to me is that it is a friendly, God-following, and welcoming school. If I have trouble at school, I can come to Mrs. McBride or Mrs. Rangel and ask them for help. Most important, if I have a question about my faith, I can go to a teacher or Pastor Rick for guidance. One thing I love about Central is that I can come and have fun, learn, and also be learning about God in our everyday school life. One example is math. Some people look at all the numbers and physics and think it all of chance. At Central, we can connect everything back to God. Also, I can know that in my life, God is there beside me. I can feel safe and loved here. I can see that God has blessed the people who work here and I hope that God continues to bless this amazing, God-loving, wonderful school.”

7th & 8th Grade Curriculum

Our curriculum at Central Christian School is in line with state standards as well as being Christ-centered. The students not only learn about God from the teachers, but they also read about God in their textbooks. The students come away not only learning history, science, math, english, etc., but also understanding the differing worldviews.

“We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders” (Psalms 78:4)

EXCERPT

7th Grade Science: Earth Science
Origin of the Atmosphere

“ A biblical young earth view of the atmosphere’s origin is much simpler. To be completely honest, we don’t know when God created the atmosphere because it is not mentioned in the Creation story in the Bible. We can assume that when God formed the firmament (or great expanse) between the waters above and the waters below on Day (Gen. 1:6-8), He also created the atmosphere in preparation for the creation of plants on Day 3.”

Egolf, Terrance and Rachel Santopietro. “What is the Atmosphere” in Earth Science (Greenville, South Carolina: BJU Press, 2015) 426.

“According to old-earth scientists, the earth began forming more than 4.5 billion years ago. The early earth was a smaller, moten ball covered by a thin crust. Within several hundred million years of the planet’s birth, a moon-forming collision occurred and melted the entire earth again. As the earth cooled from this collision, gaseous materials gathered into an atmosphere…..Sometime during the first billion years of Earth’s existence, evolutionists believe that life appeared from non-life.”

7th Grade World Geography

“Geography-the study of the earth-is an adventure, an opportunity to learn about God’s magnificent creation.”

Junior High Leadership Opportunities:

Our middle school students are the servant leaders of our school. We love giving them leadership opportunities such as:

  • Helping the younger students during school activities
  • Tutor younger students and even lead Bible studies with teacher supervision
  • Making copies and grading elementary students’ papers
  • Setting up and tearing down at events and cleaning the lunch room each week
  • Serving as the leaders on Student Council contributing wonderful ideas that make CCS even better.

Student Testimonies

What makes your Junior High education and experience at Central Christian School special and important to you as the student?

“My experience here at CCS is important to me because of all the relationships with teachers and friends. All the people here help me learn more about the things I need to know and more importantly, about God. I love how God-centered the school is. I also admire how the teachers try and want every one of their students to succeed in all areas of the students’ lives. My education gets better every day because of my friends around me supporting me. When I am an adult, this school will always be near and dear to my heart and I will never forget about my experience here.”

“My experience here is special and important to me because I enjoy being in a Christian environment. Plus, here the teachers don’t just stand there and talk. They get involved, they make fun activities, and most importantly they lead us toward God. When I am here I know that what I’m learning is true. I know in science that animals and everything came from God. But there are kids that are taught that they came from a huge explosion, they don’t know that they aren’t learning the truth. Their minds get corrupted because that is what they think is right because that is what their teacher tells them. Now, not all schools are like this, some even allow you to pray! But here, we are allowed to pray, and we know that what we are learning is true and right. This is what makes my experience here special and important.”

“I like the education provided to Jr. High by Central Christian School because of the various strategies used to help us learn, such as videos, power point and strong visuals. Also, if we get all of our work done and turned in on time we are rewarded by being allowed to go to the coffee house and purchase a drink or snack. Classes are small making it less difficult to focus. This also helps teachers be able to get around to each individual student and help them with confusion on unfamiliar concepts. If a teacher can’t find a subject they think is important in a text book they are good at finding information on the topic. The teachers involve us as much as possible, asking us questions about important details to help us remember them. The teachers explain thoroughly all the projects and are willing to help if students are having difficulty understanding. It is easy to find friends as everybody is friendly. I really like the lack of cliques, which tend to blatantly exclude others. All in all, this makes CCS a great school to go to.”

“I have been at CCS for three years. These three years have been the best three years of my life. The second I walked into the door I felt like part of the CCS family. Everyone here is so kind and loving. Central has some of the best teachers I have ever had. They know how to help you and make you understand better. My favorite thing about CCS is the Christian based atmosphere. Getting to learn about God is the best part about CCS. There are so many opportunities here at CCS.”
